Grace of God

What is Grace?

Grace is unmerited favor. We are not worthy for it. Still He bestows on us. It is the greatest thing, what the Lord did for us and it is a free gift through His death and resurrection.

What does it do for us?

  • God’s grace saves us. The Bible says in Ephesians 2:4,5 But because of his great love for us, God who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were in transgressions it is by grace you have been saved.  God is ready to give His free gift to each and every one of us. The word ‘Grace’ is mentioned in the Bible so many times.
  • God’s grace protects us. Lamentations 3:22 Because of His great love (grace) we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail.’ He protects us at all times because of His great love.
  • God’s grace strengthens us.  Paul says in I Corinthians 12:9 But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” His grace is enough for us at all circumstances. It gives us strength.
  • God’s grace helps us to work hard and gives us reward. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:10 ‘But by the grace of God I am what I am , and his grace to me was not without effect, No I worked harder than all of them yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.’ We can receive Christ’s power by His grace and not by our own righteousness. May God help us to remember His grace at every moment of our life..

How can we receive that Grace?

  1. When we call to Him, He gives us grace: Psalm 86:5 ‘You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love(grace) to all who call to You.’ David received that grace by calling unto Him.
  2. He gives grace to the humble: James 4:6 God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.’ He gives more grace. To be humble is to obey His word. We have to be humble in our thoughts, words and in actions. His grace is so high and his grace will multiply. He will fill us with His grace as we humble ourselves before the Lord Almighty our God.
  3. He gives grace to all who fear Him: Psalm 103:11 ‘Far as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love (grace) for those who fear him.’ When we fear and revere Him the grace of God will cover us. Do we fear the Lord? His grace has no limit.
  4. When we testify for God, His grace will work in us:  Acts 4:33 ‘With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all.’ God wants us to be witnesses for Him where ever we are at home, at work and all around us. We are called to be His disciples.

How will satan destroy God’s grace from our life?

  • Satan will bring the bitter roots in our relationships very slowly between husband and wife, family members, in the society, in the working places, among friends. We have to be very careful in that. Hebrews 12:14, 15 ‘…make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many…’ When we have bitterness in our lives we cannot inherit God’s blessings. We have to have a sound mind to live in peace and holiness.
  • Satan will bring worldly desires: I John 2:15, 16 ‘Do not love the world or anything in the World. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.’ For everything in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life come not from the Father but from the world. We as God’s children should be very careful when we live in this earth. Jonah 2:8 ‘Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs.’ It is so true if we cling to worldly things we will be losing God’s grace. We have to cling to the Lord and His word which will help us to be covered by His GRACE.

Prayer:

Dear Lord help us to cling on to You and to your Word, so that we will be covered by your grace all the time. Thank you so much for your grace towards us, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
